So this is my final preview before putting all of this together into one big pile of doodoo for everyone to blast down the streets of wherever they go, getting awkward stares from everyone else. Yay! This is NeedleMan’s Stage from MegaMan 3.

MR. DRILLER: Learning to Drill (Without Saying a Word)

So I’ve been meaning to finally sit down and write this thing out after I noticed something during the last time I played the Action-Puzzle title, Mr. Driller.

For those of you who haven’t played the game, the rules are pretty simple: drill down through multi-colored blocks to the designated goal without getting crushed by avalanches or running out of your slowly depleting air supply. It’s a great game, and as simple as it seems at first, it can get pretty hectic and takes a great deal of skill and quick thinking to efficiently drill towards the goal safely.

If you have played the game, you may have noticed that each stage, no matter the difficulty level, starts off the same way. While most players will whisk immediately through these seemingly insignificant 7 layers of blocks, they actually contain pretty much all the vital information the player needs to know about the gameplay and the mechanics of the blocks, without any text or noisy flashing indicators to drag the player by the hand.
